In the U.S. Capitol: Darkness rather than light

Deeds in secret.

Men love darkness rather than light, because their deeds are evil. (John 3:19)

Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their work in darkness and think, “Who sees us?  Who will know?” (Isaiah 29:15)

It is with a heavy heart that I write this.  What is reported here will surprise some people, but will not surprise others.  The events will shed, on the last few days in our republic, a light different from the spotlight directed by the media.  If we see the events clearly, we may realize that our focus has been misdirected.

Like most Americans, I think, I assumed it was inevitable that the Senate would vote to increase the so-called national debt “ceiling” this month, Continue reading “In the U.S. Capitol: Darkness rather than light”

Treasury, Lois Lerner planned to change rules for 501(c)(4)s in secret

Untrustworthy.

In a House Ways and Means Committee hearing on Wednesday, Republican members highlighted a 2012 email from a Treasury Department official that indicated the Obama administration was planning to revise the rules for 501(c)(4) organizations without notifying the public that it was deliberating this move (emphasis added).

The Obama administration’s Treasury Department and former IRS official Lois Lerner conspired to draft new 501(c)(4) regulations to restrict the activity of conservative groups in a way that would not be disclosed publicly, according to the House Committee on Ways and Means.

The Obama administration’s attack on the U.S. financial system

A weapon formed against us.

You might frown a little if you heard that the Inspector General of the U.S. Postal Service is worried about how much Americans are paying for check-cashing and payday-lending services.  What dog does he have in this fight?

Well, catch up, because the Obama administration and the leftosphere have the ball rolling on this.  They want Uncle Sam to take over the short-term financial services industry.  (Emphasis probably not needed, but added anyway.)

As luck would have it, yesterday a new government report detailed an innovation that would preserve one of the largest job creators in the country, save billions of dollars specifically for the poor, and develop Continue reading “The Obama administration’s attack on the U.S. financial system”

Expert: Team Obama ‘doesn’t understand’ terms of its own Iran deal

Peace in our time.

Here’s one I never expected to hear about a presidential administration negotiating America’s national security issues:

Nuclear expert Gregory Jones expressed concern that the administration “does not fully understand” the deal it signed [with Iran].

This will be short.  But Continue reading “Expert: Team Obama ‘doesn’t understand’ terms of its own Iran deal”
