The urge to self-preservation may not be entirely dead among native Europeans.  According to European news sources, cited in this article at WND, Europeans who have the realistic option of purchasing firearms have started doing so, at a dramatically increased rate.

Although the citizens of several key countries (e.g., Germany, the Netherlands) are basically prohibited from buying guns — by the very high obstacles their governments set for such purchases — those who can are flocking to gun vendors.  Women are reportedly the customer base showing the biggest increase.

Surgeon General-gate and the double standard for mixing health, guns, and politics

The public health realm IS political.

The New England Journal of Medicine has come out in high dudgeon over the vocal opposition of gun-rights activists to Obama’s surgeon general nominee, Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy.  Howard Portnoy highlighted earlier this month Dr. Murthy’s belief that doctors should interrogate patients on whether they have guns in the home.  As Howard pointed out, the provisions of Obamacare mean that the results of such questioning would be entered into the universal health-care database to which government officials would have access.  The NRA naturally objects.

On McCarthy and Bolyard: America’s not free enough for same-sex marriage

Our priorities must be liberty and the rule of law.

Eagle light 2Conservatives just keep sniffing the same old fire hydrants on the same-sex marriage (SSM) topic.  It’s not getting us anywhere, and I contend that that’s because we’re talking about the wrong thing.
