Brown signs bill to overpopulate planet

Inconsistency, thy name is leftism.

Moonbeam and friends, back when our global problem was an impending new Ice Age
Moonbeam and friends, back when our global problem was an impending new Ice Age

Apparently Jerry Brown didn’t get the memo.  The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is 95% certain that humans are causing global warming.  This level of certainty is so categorical that CNN felt quite comfortable in using the long-discredited “hockey stick” graph to illustrate the warming trend.  Continue reading “Brown signs bill to overpopulate planet”

Big Carbon

Hot gas.

So, how’s that carbon-trading thing going?  Big Carbon set up shop in the European Union in 2005, and is scheduled to make its North American-franchise debut in California in January.  How goes the trade?

Eurozombie

The answer in Europe is: not well.  Carbon trading is a zombie in Europe.  It’s going to start eating flesh pretty soon.  It’s on a rampage stirring up the airline industry overseas right now (on which more later), but its “life” inside the Union is creepy and inverted. Necessary skyrocketing

Sky high.

Here it comes.  DirectorBlue (Doug Ross) has a superb summary of recent updates on the colossal increase in electricity prices being imposed by the Obama EPA.  With the ongoing and prospective shutdown of coal-fired generating plants throughout the Northeast, the recent power-capacity auction for the year 2015 produced a market-clearing price of $136 per megawatt, or eight times the price from the 2012 capacity auction.

For northern Ohio, the price was a surreal $357 per megawatt – because northern Ohio has been heavily reliant on coal plants that will all be shut down by 2015.

These increases can only be passed on to the consumer – or taxpayer.  Again, Continue reading “Necessary skyrocketing”

Navy buys biofuel for $16 a gallon

Really hot gas.

This is going to help the Defense Department weather looming budget cuts, for sure.  Teaming up with the Department of Agriculture (which has a cheery Rotary Club ring to it), the Navy has purchased 450,000 gallons of biofuel for about $16 a gallon, or about 4 times the price of its standard marine fuel, JP-5, which has been going for under $4 a gallon.

You won’t be surprised to learn that a member of Obama’s presidential transition team, T. J. Glauthier, is a “strategic advisor” at Solazyme, the California company that is selling a portion of the biofuel to the Navy.  Glauthier worked – shock, shock – Continue reading “Navy buys biofuel for $16 a gallon”
